Bushfire and Disaster Appeal

If you have been wondering how you can assist the communities that have been ravaged by fires throughout Australia – those that have lost their homes and or their businesses and the workers and volunteers fighting the blazes, here are some options where you can contribute.

Donating to the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal helps deliver support to communities to ensure that they can make a full recovery.  Here’s what your money can do;

·         $80 provides ‘household essentials during an emergency’

·         $125 can ‘help reach isolated families in an emergency’

·         $250 helps provide ‘immediate assistance such as food and shelter’ and

·         $1,000 provides the ‘ongoing care and support following an emergency’

Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery online, also backed by Service NSW, needs donations to help train staff and volunteers, teach and support communities to prepare for disasters, help communities recover from emergencies, maintain stocks of equipment like shelter, hygiene etc.

Why not donate specific items that have been identified by those affected by fires such as bedding, white goods or furniture to GIVIT, partners with the Queensland Government.  100% of funds and goods received, support people in devastated communities.

And of course, we can also help our wildlife.  With an estimated 1 billion animals perished in these fires, even more have been injured and others are now homeless.    Help save our wildlife by donating to WIRES today.
